Job Summary
Swim Instructor/Lifeguard at Hopedale Wellness Center responsible for teaching private and group swim lessons to children of all ages and abilities, promoting water safety, and ensuring participant safety during classes. Duties include planning and implementing lessons, evaluating students, maintaining attendance and class records, collaborating with aquatics staff, enforcing center policies related to aquatics, maintaining equipment and supplies, and responding to emergencies. Requirements include CPR/AED certification, high school diploma or equivalent, effective communication, and knowledge of swim techniques and safety. Hours require availability until 7pm on weekdays and some Saturdays; position is PRN with on-site duties.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or current enrollment in secondary school
- Background in swimming lifeguarding
- CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, members and center personnel
- Knowledge of swimming techniques (front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, medley, turns) and water safety
- Analytical skills to break movements into parts and teach effectively
- Creativity to improvise and teach effectively
- Ability to tailor instruction to age and ability of members served
