Job Summary
Instruct swimming lessons according to YMCA guidelines while maintaining a positive atmosphere. Complete necessary paperwork and record keeping, prepare equipment before classes, and provide exceptional instruction and support to participants. Assist in leading new staff and adhere to YMCA policies, including emergency procedures. Must demonstrate effective communication skills and possess swim instructor certification.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards
- 3+ months teaching and training in an aquatic environment
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- Complete all New Employee Orientation trainings within 30 days of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Current nationally recognized swim instructor certification
- Y-USA Swim Instructor certification preferred
