Job Summary
The Swim Instructor I is responsible for instructing swimming lessons according to YMCA guidelines and maintaining a supportive atmosphere for all individuals. The role includes preparing lesson plans, developing relationships with participants, tracking records such as attendance and progress, and ensuring adherence to safety procedures. Required certifications include YMCA Swim Instructor, CPR, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen. The position emphasizes collaboration and community engagement as well as supervision of class aides when assigned.
Required Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age
- YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications required
- Intro to the Y’s Cause and Culture, Living our Cause & I Hear you. Service with Care e-learning within first 30 days
Additional Requirements
- Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check including Criminal Record check, Drug Screening and motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company policy
