Job Summary
Swim Instructors are responsible for providing high-quality swim lessons to members and the community, ensuring safety, engaging and evaluating participants of all ages and skill levels. Responsibilities include leading group, private, and semi-private lessons, planning and adapting activities, and maintaining control during sessions. Successful candidates will have the ability to create a supportive environment, demonstrate effective communication, and manage diverse groups, along with a commitment to water safety and fostering a positive learning experience.
Required Qualifications
- An age of 18 years or above preferred
- Ability to lift children up to 40 pounds from water to side of pool
- Ability to lead activities/skill sessions in the water for at least a half hour
- Desire and ability to work with children
- Visual and auditory ability to supervise swimmers and to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience as a swim instructor
- Ability to teach swimming and water safety skills to children of varying ages and abilities
- Enthusiasm, patience, sense of humor, and self-control
