Job Summary
Assist with conducting swim lessons under the supervision of the Aquatics Staff Associate, help supervise children and adults in care of the instructor, maintain a clean and sanitary pool area, keep accurate records on participants for certification information, enforce pool rules, and maintain required certifications. Attend required trainings and meetings. This role supports YMCA leadership competencies and the mission of the YMCA of Greater Rochester, with shift availability on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Requires ability to hear distress signals, stand for long periods, lift up to 15 pounds, and meet physical requirements for working in an aquatic environment; CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications or the ability to obtain them within 60 days.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 15 years of age
- Must enjoy working with children and have experience working with groups of children
- Must possess maturity, responsibility, and sincere interest in working with children
- Must possess or obtain CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications within 60 days of employment
