Job Summary
Swedish Reviewer/Editor/Certifier to support DOJ Linguistic Support Services: translates, transcribes, and interprets legal materials across documents, multimedia, and communications; handles court and deposition interpretation; works with highly technical and varied terminology; maintains confidentiality and ethics; requires ILR level 4 or equivalent, five years’ language experience, U.S. residency in the past five years, at least one year in a legal/law-enforcement context, U.S. citizenship, proficiency with CAT tools (SDL Trados Studio), and an active Public Trust or higher clearance; role is Remote with National Capital Region/CONUS locations and some travel; part-time engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the required language with superior English and editing skills
- ILR 4 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests
- Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S.
- At least 1 year of experience with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- U.S. citizen
- Proficiency with translation resources, monolingual reference materials, and online material
- Native-language fluency with professional command of non-native language
- Translate accurately without changes, omissions, or additions
- Preserve tone and register of source materials
- Ethics in linguistics
- Proficient in using CAT tools, SDL Trados Studio
- Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Remote / National Capitol Region / CONUS locations
- Some travel may be required
