Job Summary
Carry out the plans and directives of the Administrator and/or Montessori Teacher while assisting with the set-up and maintenance of the Montessori prepared environment, including making materials, cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, moving furniture, and preparing snacks. Redirect children as needed to allow teachers to continue working or observe as requested during school functions. Participate in staff meetings and in-service training as applicable. Maintain accurate records of activities and adapt classroom materials for temporary assignments. This part-time, non-exempt student worker position requires a high school diploma, criminal record clearance, physical examination clearance for children aged two to six, TB screening, and Early Childhood Systems Patch Registry qualification. Willingness to work occasional nights, weekends, and a varying schedule is required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proof of a criminal record clearance
- A physical examination clearance for work with children aged two to six
- A current TB screening
- Member of the Early Childhood Systems Patch Registry with the qualification of Aide for group child care centers and homes
- Communicates clearly and respectfully with teachers, students, and families; follows and delivers classroom instructions accurately
- Quickly builds positive rapport with students; fosters a cooperative, inclusive learning environment during transitions
- Adapts and organizes classroom materials and learning spaces for temporary assignments; maintains accurate records of activities
- Prioritizes tasks and manages time effectively to support instructional goals and classroom routines
- Adheres to program timelines and substitute procedures
- Demonstrates attention to accuracy and quality in work; maintains confidentiality and upholds high integrity and ethical standards
- Must be capable of meeting the physical demands of employment
- Must be capable of bending, reaching, running, and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Must be capable of moving furniture and arranging classroom activities
- Must be capable of standing for prolonged periods of time
- Must have finger dexterity
- Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and a varying schedule
