Job Summary
Provide legal advice and guidance to senior leadership and business units on legal, regulatory, compliance, governance, transactional, intellectual property, and operational matters. Research and evaluate legal and regulatory risks related to business decisions, loan origination activities, and applicable regulatory requirements. Negotiate, draft, review, and interpret contracts, agreements, and other legal documents while supporting corporate transactions, strategic initiatives, and debt or equity financing. Manage corporate litigation matters, oversee outside counsel, and support default management and loss mitigation. Maintain corporate governance best practices, policies, and protocols, and oversee the administration of the company's regulatory compliance program. This role supports a fully remote, multinational workforce at World Business Lenders, a privately held portfolio lender specializing in real estate-secured business loans for underserved businesses.
Required Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership in good standing in any U.S. state or the District of Columbia
- 6–10 years of legal experience
- Law firm experience
- in-house counsel experience preferred
- Strong legal research, drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Exceptional project management, organizational, and communication skills
- Excellent business judgment and practical problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment
