Job Summary
SVP, Actuary based in Toronto in a hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in the office. You will serve as a strategic partner with brokers and clients, guiding analytics resources, ensuring client needs are met, and supporting the reinsurance transaction process. You will independently propose actuarial services and valuations, modify complex models, expand client services beyond transactions to drive business development, direct teams to build complex specialty models for risk assessment and pricing strategies, advise senior management on project progress, and communicate strategically with brokers, re-insurers, and clients to anticipate needs and drive usage of actuarial services. The opportunity emphasizes collaboration with brokers and clients, development opportunities, and cross-functional problem-solving within a global analytics and advisory actuarial team.
Required Qualifications
- minimum ACAS, preferably FCAS; at least 7-10 years in the industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Math, Statistics, or related field
- Pricing, valuation and/or capital modeling experience
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite
- Visualization skills – Power BI, Tableau or similar
- Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
- Coding experience in programming languages (i.e. Alteryx, R, Python, VBA, SQL)
- Comfortable working in interactive teams with brokers and clients
- Ability to lead day-to-day parts of the project and make decisions to keep projects moving forward
- Strong problem-solving skills
