Job Summary
Support daily sustainability operations by managing recycling, composting, and waste diversion across on-site facilities and employee housing. Collect materials from housing units, track and report metrics, and monitor wildlife activity as required. Recruit volunteers, maintain gardens, organize the thrift store, and create communication materials for events. Contribute innovative ideas to improve environmental, economic, and social practices while engaging with community partners. This seasonal, non-exempt role in Hoonah, AK requires physical stamina for variable weather conditions and hands-on tasks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to perform hands-on, physical tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments
- Ability to work in variable weather conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials related to recycling, composting, and sustainability operations
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in sustainability, environmental science, or a related field
- Demonstrated interest in environmental stewardship and community engagement
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable engaging with employees, students, and community members
- Basic recordkeeping and reporting skills
