Job Summary
Support the SPT Sustainability Manager in developing, implementing, and managing the Environmental and Sustainability Strategy to meet biodiversity ambitions and nature-based solutions for climate resilience. Monitor delivery of nature strategies against business plans, identifying slippage and proposing remedial actions while highlighting blockers to management. Build relationships with sustainability stakeholders to ensure their views inform investment and operational plans, and lead standing or ad-hoc working groups on specific sustainability issues. Develop a formal, long-term sustainability culture by delivering training, awareness, and coaching to operational and investment managers. Review and verify regulatory reporting returns prior to final approval, providing technical expertise to Directors and senior management.
Required Qualifications
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
- Awareness of sustainability requirements for an electricity network operator
- Demonstrable experience of working in a specialist team and delivering cross business activities
- Demonstrable experience of liaising, negotiating and influencing at a senior level in business
- In-depth knowledge developments in the sustainability agenda
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in one or more relevant sustainability topics (sustainable design, planning policy, waste, carbon/energy, responsible sourcing, water, biodiversity, building certification)
- Training and coaching skills with the ability to communicate technical information in a concise way to a non-technical audience
- Strong analytical and rigorous approach to data management
- Mobility to work in the UK (implied by 'not a citizen of the country of the vacancy will be subject to compliance with the applicable immigration requirements')
Desired Qualifications
- Preferably with or working towards a post graduate qualification in sustainability, environmental or business management
