Sustainability Specialist

Job Summary

Develop long-term sustainability plans that integrate environmental goals with business interests and prepare multiyear budget projections for initiatives. Liaise with leadership, staff, and external organizations to achieve corporate environmental objectives and support third-party certification efforts. Coordinate measuring, monitoring, studies, and audits to assess environmental performance, calculate sustainability metrics, and maintain related programs. Lead project teams as an environmental consultant to encourage sustainable solutions while researching trends across government and society. Create data capture templates and utilize industry protocols to analyze environmental metrics against norms.

Required Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in Science, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of two years of related experience with developing and integrating sustainable development practices within a large and complex organization
  • Experience in compiling data needed to determine a large organization's greenhouse gas inventory
  • Knowledge of green building concepts
  • Familiarity with the LEED system and other green building designations
  • Knowledge of key sustainability issues and how they can be integrated into business to create measurable value
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams)
  • Have and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers license
  • Must be willing to travel to all MPI offices within Manitoba
