Job Summary
Prepare traditional Japanese sushi rice, chop, slice, and fillet various fish and vegetables while maintaining the highest quality standards. Inspect all fruits, vegetables, and fish for quality, reporting sub-standard items to the STL immediately. Assemble sushi dishes according to established guidelines for quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety. Maintain a clean work environment to prevent contamination, sterilize all utensils and equipment before each use, and report any kitchen equipment issues to the manager. Greet and communicate with customers to ensure they feel valued. This entry-level developmental role requires a minimum of six months in food service, sushi rolling experience preferred, and a valid food handler's license.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months in the food service industry
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Valid food handler's license
- Sound knowledge of food safety regulations
- The ability to stand for long periods of time
- The ability to work under pressure with sound judgement
