Job Summary
Assist with sushi preparation and food assembly under JAPANMART quality standards by accurately portioning and cutting raw fish, as well as preparing cooked items like onigiri, soufflé pancakes, and unagi bowls. Monitor cooking times, food quality, and adherence to brand standards while following all food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements. Operate kitchen equipment safely, maintain cleanliness of workstations and storage spaces, and assist with opening, closing, and inventory restocking procedures. Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth operations during peak hours. Shifts include weekdays, weekends, and holidays as a part-time role of 30 hours or less. Bilingual skills in English and Japanese are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Food Handler Certification
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Ability to stand for periods of time
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand for up to four hours
- Must be able to reach across counter tops measured at 36 inches
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment
- Must have effective verbal communication skills
- Must be able to adapt to a dynamic environment with changing priorities
- Must be able to manage challenging or high-pressure situations with composure
