Job Summary
Prepare and cook a variety of Asian-inspired dishes in front of guests while engaging them with stories and information about each item. Welcome guests with verbal greetings, answer menu questions with enthusiasm, and suggest combinations to enhance the dining experience. Execute proper maki and nigiri preparation using precision knife skills, portion ingredients consistently, and cook proteins to correct temperatures while maintaining SNHD compliance. Manage inventory, store perishables properly, and maintain a clean station adhering to hygiene standards. Work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays in a creative, sensory-rich environment requiring extended standing and ability to withstand noise and heat.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Comfortable working in a creative, entrepreneurial start-up environment, introducing new concepts and innovations.
- Strong knife skills, including precision cutting for nigiri and sashimi.
- Proficiency in portioning rice, protein, and vegetables to ensure consistency
- Ability to execute proper maki (rolls) preparation with efficiency and presentation.
- Understanding of proper fish handling.
- Expertise in plating and presentation for sushi dishes
- Minimum 1 year of sushi experience in a high-volume sushi restaurant or a related setting.
- Possession of a valid SNHD Health Card.
- Proficient knowledge of SNHD guidelines and requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to work with a team, being a team player.
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and write the English language.
- Availability for varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work in low lighting and sensory-sensitive environments.
- Ability to work in an environment subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, flashing lights, and smoke.
- Must have the ability to withstand high temperatures, heat, and sun exposure.
