Job Summary
Sushi Chef at Hy-Vee responsible for preparing and filling customer sushi orders, packaging and made-to-order items, and maintaining food safety and sanitation in a fast-paced grocery environment. Tasks include ordering/receiving products, labeling, dating, proper storage, providing courteous customer service, guiding and assisting customers, training teammates, overseeing food planning and ordering, and participating in merchandising of sushi offerings. Must maintain sanitation standards, stay aware of meal trends, and participate in demonstrations and store-wide activities. Requires high school or equivalent with Hy-Vee food safety training and Food Safety Certification, and 1–3 years of related experience; physical demands include frequent lifting and standing; strong arithmetic, communication, and customer-service skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent with Hy-Vee food safety training and Food Safety Certified
- One to three years of similar or related work
- Prior experience in meal preparation is preferred
