Job Summary
As a Sushi Chef at Invited, you will lead the food preparation, production, and presentation in the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality and consistency. Responsibilities include managing cleanliness and sanitation, supervising Cook 1 and Cook 2 team members, and executing daily prep. You will prepare sushi, sashimi, and rolls, monitor inventory, and assist in menu planning and product testing. This position requires advanced culinary skills and the ability to thrive in a high-stress kitchen environment while collaborating with team members to deliver exceptional service.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in the kitchen environment
- Valid Food Handler Certifications as required by state and city regulations
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow instructions accurately
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or Sushi Cook
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of sushi preparation techniques
- Understanding of fish quality, sourcing, and freshness standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and consistency in presentation
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with omakase or specialty rolls
- Knowledge of Japanese cuisine beyond sushi
- Culinary training or certification
