Job Summary
Prepare traditional Japanese sushi rice, slice and fillet various fish, and create rolls based on established company guidelines while maintaining strict food safety standards. Inspect ingredients for quality, minimize waste through proper resource utilization, and sterilize all utensils and equipment before every use. Greet customers to ensure they feel valued and report any kitchen equipment problems to the manager on duty. Maintain a clean work environment to prevent contamination and work under pressure to uphold restaurant quality standards during assigned hours.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years in the food service industry
- sushi rolling experience
- Excellent knife skills
- experienced in cutting large fish for sashimi & nigiri
- prepping vegetables for common sushi rolls & garnish
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Demonstrated professionalism in front of the customers
- respect for co-workers and workplace at all times
- Valid food handler's license
- expert knowledge of food safety regulations
- The ability to stand for long periods of time
- The ability to work under pressure with sound judgement
