Job Summary
Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical survey control throughout the project lifecycle while performing construction layout, staking, and field surveying activities. Verify lines, grades, elevations, and dimensions to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications, providing grade control support with a strong emphasis on bridge deck verification. Conduct field measurements, topographic surveys, and quantity calculations to support project progress, then process survey data to generate accurate deliverables for project teams. Operate and maintain GPS equipment, robotic total stations, and digital levels, troubleshooting instruments to ensure proper calibration. Coordinate closely with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and field personnel to support project execution and scheduling while maintaining a safe work environment. Prepare and update survey records, field notes, reports, and as-built documentation to support quality control activities.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or certification in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 2+ years of construction surveying experience, preferably in heavy civil, bridge, highway, or infrastructure projects
- Experience performing construction layout and grade verification
- Proficiency with GPS systems, robotic total stations, levels, and survey data collection software
- Working knowledge of construction plans, specifications, and survey calculations
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and project documents
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting bridge construction projects
- Knowledge of machine control systems and survey modeling software
- Familiarity with Trimble, Leica, or Topcon survey equipment and software
- Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) certification or professional surveying credentials preferred
