Job Summary
Assist the Surveyor with underground and surface surveying operations by carrying, setting up, and maintaining equipment including total stations, prisms, and laser levels. Hold target rods and prism poles at designated locations, drill and install mechanical survey plugs in mine roofs, and prepare work areas by clearing debris to ensure clear lines of sight. Clean, inspect, calibrate, and store surveying equipment after use while maintaining inventory of supplies and recording field measurements as directed. Perform other duties as assigned while complying with all Health and Safety requirements. Full-time day shift with 12-hour rotations; valid driver's license and ability to work in varying weather conditions required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Ability and willingness to work underground and on the surface in varying weather and environmental conditions
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
- Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts
- Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain and underground mine conditions
- Ability to work in confined spaces and low-clearance areas
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to kneel, bend, stoop, climb, and work in physically demanding environments
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to follow detailed verbal instructions and work as part of a team
- Ability to accurately record field notes and measurements
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to comply with all Health and Safety requirements established by JENNMAR Services and West Elk Mine
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
