Job Summary
Conduct construction layout and staking for heavy civil infrastructure projects using GPS, Total Station, and Trimble Business Center. Lead field surveying operations and coordinate activities with project managers, superintendents, and crews to ensure accurate execution. Prepare as-built documentation, perform quantity calculations for estimating support, and manage digital models. Interpret engineering drawings and specifications while assisting with preconstruction planning. This full-time, year-round role transitions to office-based responsibilities during winter months. Based on experience, the salary ranges from $100,000 to $150,000.
Required Qualifications
- Experience performing surveying for heavy civil construction projects
- Proficiency with Trimble GPS equipment and machine control technology
- Experience using Trimble Business Center to create and manage construction models
- Working knowledge of Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, and automatic levels
- Strong mathematical and calculation skills
- Experience staking roadways, manholes, inlets, curb, sidewalk, utilities, and other heavy civil infrastructure
- Ability to read and interpret engineered construction drawings and specifications
- Experience performing layout and staking for municipal, county, and/or state transportation projects
- Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication with project teams
Desired Qualifications
- State Surveyor License or certification
- Additional experience supporting estimating, quantity calculations, and project planning
- Knowledge of DOT standards and public infrastructure construction practices
