Job Summary

Conduct and maintain survey control for open-pit and underground mining operations, including establishing verification and as-built surveys for haul roads, pits, and underground workings. Lead execution of topographic and construction surveys while ensuring accurate set-out of mine infrastructure to support mine planning, production tracking, and layout activities. Partner with engineering, geology, and operations teams to communicate findings, coordinate field crews, and recommend process improvements for data accuracy. Manage equipment calibration, adhere to safety protocols, and produce precise spatial datasets and volume calculations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in mining surveying (open-pit and/or underground operations)
  • Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in active mining or heavy industrial environments
  • Strong proficiency with surveying tools and software (e.g., GPS/GNSS, total stations, Leica/Trimble systems, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Deswik or similar)
  • Solid understanding of mine surveying principles including volumes, pit progression, and drill & blast layout
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and spatial analysis skills
  • Ability to work in remote field environments under varying and sometimes challenging conditions

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with UAV/drone surveying, LiDAR, or 3D scanning is an asset
