Job Summary

Survey ambulatory organizations throughout the United States within the full scope of the Joint Commission's Ambulatory Programs by applying systems analysis skills to determine compliance and functionality of care delivery systems. Engage health care organization staff in interactive dialogues on standards-based issues to assess compliance and identify opportunities for improving compliance. Prepare management reports that link individual standards deficiencies with potential systems vulnerabilities and communicate this information to leadership in a constructive style. Participate in other Joint Commission activities as assigned by supervisor. This highly visible and challenging role requires extensive travel nationwide 100% of work time, including driving to remote locations, flying on small airplanes, and working in all weather conditions. Candidates must be available for monthly rotations of one, two, or three weeks per month and possess strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy
  • Current professional licensure in related discipline
  • Board Certified
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in an ambulatory care setting
  • Three years of direct clinical experience
  • Two years in management and or quality improvement
  • CPHQ certification (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) through National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ)
  • Current knowledge of The Joint Commission accreditation process
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb stairs
  • Must be able to work in settings with infectious diseases
  • Must be able to observe, in real time and without slowing or otherwise interrupting the progress of all applicable types of ongoing health care treatment
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to walk lengthy distances
  • Must be able to stoop, pulling, and push
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairways
  • Must be able to engage in extensive travel
  • Must be able to drive a car to remote locations
  • Must be able to fly on small airplanes and into small airports
  • Must be able to travel in all types of weather conditions
  • Must be available to provide monthly availability
  • Must be available to work one, two or three weeks per month
  • Must be available to work two weeks (.48 FTE) or three weeks (.7 FTE) per month
  • Must provide two or three weeks of availability for scheduling purposes
  • Must be located within approximately 50 miles of a major commercial airport with direct access to domestic and/or international flight routes and facilities capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft
