Job Summary
Senior Survey Technician will assist in applying surveying principles to drafts of subdivision plats, boundary surveys, easement plats, staking maps for subdivisions and site plans, and topographical surveys with digital terrain models. The role involves preparing takes, conducting courthouse research, submitting plats for jurisdictional approval, collaborating with the project manager, and potentially substituting in the field. Requires a Bachelor or Associate degree in a related field or a minimum of three years of progressive survey field experience; GPS and 3D laser scanning experience is a plus; strong verbal/written communication; ability to read deeds, title and zoning reports, plats, DOT plans, and engineering drawings; and solid mathematical skills including trigonometry and geometry.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor or Associate degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, Geospatial Information Sciences or related field or a minimum of three years of progressive survey field experience
- Experience working with GPS and 3D laser scanning a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, scope of services, project budgets, jurisdictional platting & submittal requirements, and procedure manuals
- Ability to read deed descriptions, title reports, zoning reports, survey plats, DOT plans, engineering drawings, and aerial topographic mapping
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as trigonometry and geometry
