Job Summary
Timmons Group is seeking a Survey Technician/Senior Survey Technician for the Staunton, VA location. Responsible for drafting subdivision plats, boundary surveys, easement plats, parcel descriptions, staking maps for subdivisions, infrastructure improvements and site plans; preparing cutsheets and construction take-offs; drafting topographical surveys and digital terrain models; performing limited courthouse research; submitting plats for jurisdictional approval; collaborating with the project manager and group leader; and may substitute in the field. Candidates should have a Bachelor or Associate degree in Land Surveying/Geomatics/Geography/Geospatial Information Sciences or at least three years of progressive survey field experience; experience with GPS and 3D laser scanning is a plus; strong verbal and written communication; ability to read and interpret safety rules, scope of services, project budgets, jurisdictional platting/submittal requirements, and procedure manuals; ability to read deed descriptions, title reports, zoning reports, survey plats, DOT plans, engineering drawings, and aerial topographic mapping; ability to understand and follow instructions; and proficiency with trig/geometry. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor or Associate degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, Geospatial Information Sciences or related field or a minimum of three years of progressive survey field experience
- Experience with GPS and 3D laser scanning is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, scope of services, project budgets, jurisdictional platting & submittal requirements, and procedure manuals
- Ability to read deed descriptions, title reports, zoning reports, survey plats, DOT plans, engineering drawings, and aerial topographic mapping
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as trigonometry and geometry
