Job Summary
Lead and manage a field survey crew conducting topographic, construction staking, and other land surveys while setting up and operating GPS equipment, total stations, and levels. Ensure accurate data collection, conduct detailed field notes and sketches, and coordinate daily tasks to meet project deadlines. Communicate with project managers, clients, and engineers, interpret survey data for design recommendations, and resolve discrepancies in the field. Maintain equipment calibration, prepare digital survey reports, and ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards. Requires 3-5 years of surveying experience, leadership skills, and proficiency with Trimble equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Trimble equipment experience
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team and coordinate with other stakeholders
- Problem-solving abilities to address challenges that arise in the field
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in data collection and reporting
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field is a plus
- 3-5 years of experience in land surveying and/or construction layout, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Electrical, Structural and Civil plan reading experience, a plus
- AutoCAD and Microsoft office experience, a plus
- Experience with a variety of survey types, including boundary, topographic, construction staking, and ALTA/NSPS surveys
- Proficiency in using surveying equipment such as GPS units, total stations, levels, and data collectors
