Job Summary
A Survey Technician performs field surveys to measure distances, angles, and elevations using total stations, GPS, and data collectors, records measurements in survey notes, and assists in creating maps and drawings with CAD under a Registered Professional Land Surveyor. Responsibilities include setting out stakes, locating property corners and markers, maintaining surveying instruments, organizing and processing data for analysis, performing calculations for traverse closures and boundary determinations, and conducting fieldwork outdoors with the survey crew.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Proficiency in mathematics (algebra, trigonometry, geometry)
- Familiarity with surveying software (AutoCAD) desirable
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong ability to follow instructions from a Party Chief and communicate with crew members in the field
- Ability to walk on rugged terrain and lift/carry equipment up to 50 pounds
