Survey Project Manager – Maryland PLS

Job Summary

Manage surveying projects from initial scope and proposal through fieldwork, production, quality review, and final delivery. Lead boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and construction assignments while providing licensed professional oversight for Maryland surveying work. Review and seal deliverables in accordance with state requirements, monitor financial performance and schedule, and coordinate field crews and technical disciplines. Serve as the primary client contact, manage expectations, and support proposals to expand relationships. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across offices to influence quality and project delivery. This Maryland-licensed Professional Land Surveyor will work on a hybrid basis from an approved Pennsylvania office, with opportunities to mentor staff and drive leadership growth within RETTEW's employee-owned engineering firm.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Professional Land Surveyor license in Maryland
  • Significant professional surveying experience, including responsibility for project delivery
  • Demonstrated experience managing survey projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations
  • Strong working knowledge of Maryland surveying laws, regulations, standards, and professional requirements
  • Experience reviewing and taking professional responsibility for survey plans, plats, and related deliverables
  • Experience coordinating field and office survey operations
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and priorities
  • Working knowledge of professional survey technology, software, equipment, and CAD-based production environments
  • Strong client communication and project-leadership skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel to project/client locations as needed
  • Ability to work on a hybrid basis from an approved RETTEW office location in Pennsylvania
  • Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings, which may include background checks, drug testing, and motor vehicle record review

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional Land Surveyor licensure in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or another Mid-Atlantic state
  • Experience supporting land development, transportation, infrastructure, or multidisciplinary engineering projects
  • Experience mentoring survey professionals or leading technical teams
  • Experience developing scopes, fees, and proposals
  • Experience supporting client development or expanding existing client relationships
  • Experience within a multidisciplinary engineering or consulting environment
