Job Summary
Lead a survey crew by overseeing field operations, coordinating work assignments, and instructing employees on safe procedures. Resolve difficult problems as an acknowledged expert while utilizing modern equipment to collect data and perform complex field survey work. Calculate distances, locations, and angles using standard formulas, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports. Requisition materials, monitor supplies, and perform difficult public contact work as required. Possess a valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions with a high degree of independence.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma / GED
- Four years of experience in sub-professional engineering and field survey work
- Must have at least one year of running a survey field crew
- Must possess a valid Driver's License issued by the state in which employee resides
- Must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test
- Must have meets expectations on their current performance evaluation
Desired Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, and equipment used in field surveying and related work
- Thorough knowledge of the computations used in field surveying and related work
- Skilled in the operation and care of surveying instruments
- Skilled in performing trigonometry computations of angles, areas, distances and traverses
- Thorough ability of working with total station, GPS units / receiver, data collectors and levels
- Use of survey pro on data collectors
- Ability to follow and give instruction based upon established procedures given by written and oral direction
- Ability to assist in the training and overseeing field personnel
- Thorough ability to read/understand construction plans
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete engineering/survey records and notes
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence
- Basic Microsoft office suite computer skills
