Survey Group Manager - Transportation

Job Summary
Transportation Survey Group Manager to oversee field and office surveying and geomatics, manage projects to NCDOT standards, develop relationships with NCDOT and municipalities, assist with proposals and qualifications statements for roadways and multi-modal projects, support production for survey and ROW plans, assist with workforce planning and monthly billing, and ensure quality control per NCDOT guidelines. Requires a Professional Land Surveyor license in North Carolina. Must have progressive surveying-management experience with NCDOT transportation projects and a strong technical background in NCDOT survey standards, with proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, Trimble Business Center, FBK, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS, plus field experience with Trimble survey equipment. Strong leadership, communication, and client-relations skills to interact with team members, clients, officials, and the public.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor license in North Carolina
- Progressive experience in surveying management, specifically supporting NCDOT transportation survey projects
- Strong technical background in NCDOT Survey standards, including certifications and contract guidelines
- Experience performing business development and maintaining relationships with NCDOT and local municipality decision makers
- Experience supporting NCDOT survey projects and local municipalities as lead survey consultant
- Extensive knowledge of survey and mapping principles, practice standards, procedures and project management
- Experience with survey computations and methods to NCDOT standards using MicroStation, Open Roads Designer, Trimble Business Center, FBK, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS, as well as field experience with Trimble Survey field equipment
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills to effectively and professionally interact with team members, clients, governmental review authorities, government officials, and the public
- Demonstrated expertise adjusting to priorities and demands from multiple clients and projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, multi-disciplinary environment
- Firm understanding of risk management and loss prevention
- Superior organizational and planning skills with keen attention to detail
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office, Teams, SharePoint, and relevant technical software, ORD, AutoCAD and MicroStation platforms)
