Survey Field Technician (Instrument Operator)

Job Summary
Operate survey instruments including total stations, digital levels, GPS equipment, and data collectors to assist the Party Chief with daily field survey activities on boundary, topographic, construction, utility, and transportation projects. Accurately record field measurements and observations in field books and electronic systems, perform calculations, and set survey monuments and control points. Maintain, clean, inventory, and store survey equipment and vehicles while adhering to safety policies. Communicate with project teams and clients, follow schedules, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions while lifting up to 50 pounds frequently. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong interest in land surveying, engineering, construction, or related fields
- Ability to learn and operate survey equipment and technology
- Ability to accurately record and organize field data
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and rugged terrain
- Ability to lift and carry survey equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk
- Ability to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to walk over rough and uneven terrain
- Ability to stand up to 10-12 hours a day
- Availability for weekend and overtime work
- Availability for overnight work
- Availability for travel
