Job Summary
Draft various survey drawings and maps including boundary, topographic, as-built, encroachment, land tie, access easement, substation easement, fiber crossing surveys, and necessary exhibits. Prepare land legal descriptions for land acquisition efforts and research existing survey and real estate records while contacting local and state agencies for right-of-way information. Transmit completed drawings to appropriate workgroups and upload electronic files to the SoCo database (Vault). Effectively communicate with other departments, companies, counties, cities, and municipalities. Requires a high school diploma, valid Alabama driver's license, and at least one year of land survey CAD drafting experience. Located at Birmingham- APC Corporate HQ.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Valid Alabama divers license
- A minimum of 1 year Land Survey related CAD drafting experience
- Extensive experience, working knowledge and the ability to research public documentation and records to produce signed Survey Plats
- Proficiency in Computer Aided Drafting
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
- Ability to research and understand land rights and legal documents (i.e. survey plats and maps, deeds, legal descriptions and other conveyances involving land rights)
- Possess and demonstrate problem solving (trouble shooting) skills
- Knowledge of surveying procedures for a variety of survey types
- Knowledgeable of Alabama's Standards of Practice for surveying
- Knowledgeable of Alabama's Public Land Survey System (U.S. System of Rectangular Surveys)
- Necessary skills to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances while working on multiple tasks/projects and ability to be productive, decisive and efficient in periods of short time constraints and resource limitations
- Strong verbal, listening and written communication skills
- Strong teamwork skills
- Strong customer service focus – sense of urgency
Desired Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar suitable technical degree
