Job Summary

Lead field survey crews on construction, topographic, boundary, and roadway projects by assigning work, monitoring performance, and evaluating crew members. Instruct staff on survey methods, equipment operation, and safety procedures while gathering data via conventional and GPS techniques. Operate robotic surveying equipment to measure distances, elevations, and angles, then prepare field notes, drawings, and construction stakes for roadway, bridge, and flood control initiatives. Establish vertical and horizontal control, right-of-way monuments, and property lines while managing brush clearing and maintaining accurate notes. Requires valid driver's license, ability to travel, and proficiency with total stations and data collectors. Required Qualifications

  • High School and/or specialized training from a vocational or technical school
  • Good written communication and handwriting with the ability to take all types of notes in the required manner, manage and organize field crew
  • Ability to calculate basic math (as required for the work) and utilize calculators and other computational devices
  • Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed on the project
  • Ability to cut and/or clear brush while establishing survey lines (machete use)
  • Knowledge of equipment and ability to set up for various types for different work situations
  • Ability to hold and proficiently use all measuring devices
  • Valid driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required
  • Ability to travel
