Job Summary
Lead the survey crew's daily operations on civil construction projects in Jacksonville, FL. Supervise instrument and rod personnel, manage survey equipment and materials, and coordinate with foremen and superintendents to support production and field requirements. Perform and oversee layout, finish grade work, as-builts, utilities, and field computations; interpret plans, control points, and elevations; maintain cost awareness and ensure equipment calibration and readiness. Develop and maintain short-term work schedules (at least one week ahead) and communicate priorities and progress with the Survey Manager and field leadership. Emphasize safety, accuracy, and efficient use of resources on a variety of site development and utilities projects.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of civil construction principles and field layout procedures
- Ability to read and interpret plans, profiles, and specifications with precision
- Competent Person and Confined Space training preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Proficiency with basic math and survey-related calculations
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, squat, and lift up to 80 lbs
- Reliable transportation to and from jobsites
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to safety
- Strong communicator with the ability to work effectively across teams
- Values teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
