Job Summary
Lead a two- or three-person field crew to perform accurate land surveys for land development, transportation, utility, and energy projects using GPS, terrestrial laser scanning, or conventional methods. Execute topographic, ODOT, ALTA, boundary, and construction staking tasks while adhering to Halff and client safety standards. Maintain meticulous attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and navigate various job sites under extreme weather conditions. This role requires early morning hours (starting at 7am Monday through Friday), potential overtime and weekend work, and up to 50% monthly travel. Candidates must possess strong physical capabilities, including lifting 50 pounds and standing for extended periods, along with proficiency in modern communication tools.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Crew Chief performing topographic surveys, ODOT, ALTA and boundary surveys, or construction staking
- Valid Driver's License
- Physical capabilities to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
- Meticulous attention to detail and keen eye to promote and ensure accuracy
- Exceptional capacity to grasp new learning material
- Strong willingness to comply with specific instructions that may be provided in different methods of communication
- Proficient in modern means of communication and effective use of smart portable devices
- Ability to adhere to Halff and client safety standards at all times while performing field duties
- High level of dependability, discipline, and responsibility to be a positive representative for Halff and remain punctual on a consistent basis
- Ability to arrive to work earlier than usual start time, beginning at 7am, Monday through Friday
- Overtime and weekend work may be needed to meet project deadlines
- Travel generally required for position, up to 50% per month
- Ability to pass a drug and background screen
- Excellent physical condition to perform field work, outdoors, in various conditions including extreme heat, cold, and wind
- Ability to travel to various project sites
- Ability to access and navigate job sites and construction areas
Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Trimble GPS and/or Conventional equipment
