Survey Coordinator & Analyst III — Gulf Video Survey

Job Summary
Coordinate G-FISHER and PRDW surveys by managing vessel logistics, personnel, and weather conditions while conducting data collection per SOPs at sea. Serve as a liaison between ships, labs, and participants, utilizing GitHub for project management and Oracle databases for data entry. Perform video annotation and subject-matter expertise to identify marine fishes, integrating datasets into a unified system and supporting AI/ML interoperability. Estimate abundance indices and species distribution models using GIS and statistical methods to support SEDAR data workshops and annual ecological status reports. Prepare manuscripts, present findings at scientific meetings, and lead public outreach efforts including school programs and facility tours.
Required Qualifications
- MS degree (or higher) in Marine Science or a related field, or a related field plus 5 years of relevant experience
- Computer literate with common word processing, database, statistical, and graphics programs; capable of writing reports at advanced (publication) levels and making oral presentations
- Knowledge of SEAMAP field sampling protocols for reef fish to lead or participate in GCRF surveys
- Experience as lead data collector on at-sea surveys; skilled with shipboard software handling hydrological (SCS) and biological (SEAL) data streams
- Proficient in fish, invertebrate, and protected species identification; knowledge of Gulf of America reef taxa
- Knowledge of procedures for encountering endangered or threatened species
- Must submit a NOAA Health Services Questionnaire (Form 57-10-01) and Tuberculosis Screening Form (NF 57-10-02) annually/biennially
- Must have a current tetanus vaccine (within 10 years)
