Survey CAD Technician

Job Summary
Prepare comprehensive survey documents including maps, plats, and boundary descriptions using AutoCAD, Carlson Survey, and Civil 3D. Independently write legal descriptions, perform land records research, and compile deeds into sketches. Assist with staking computations, prepare field crew packages, and manage daily field schedules. Maintain meticulous records of survey data and field notes while representing the firm professionally in the field. Escalate potential hazards and unsafe working conditions to ensure a safe environment. Work primarily outside with varying conditions, standing and walking 8-12 hours daily, lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally. Weekend, overtime, and overnight travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- BS or associate's degree with emphasis on Surveying, Geomatics or Computer Aided Drafting
- 2-5 years of work experience in surveying
- General knowledge of geometry, coordinate geometry, trigonometry and basic Land Surveying fundamentals and computations
- Strong technical knowledge of AutoCAD, Carlson survey and Civil 3D software, along with Microsoft Office
- Able to generate a surface model from survey data sets and understand the principals of interpolating elevations
- Ability to read and interpret DOT Right-of-Way plans, site plans, grading plans, utility plans and profiles, horizontal and vertical curves, foundation plans, and architectural plans
- Able to take direction and execute with accuracy and thoroughness
- Communicate and work well with others
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Successfully pass a motor vehicle records check, drug test, and functional assessment
- Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to stand up or walk between 8-12 hours a day
- Weekend and overtime and/or overnight work and travel
Desired Qualifications
- have achieved certification as an NSPS CST Level II preferred
