Job Summary
Prepare maps and drawings from survey field data including topographic maps, route surveys, boundary surveys, and site plans. Reduce field notes, check calculations, and perform coordinate geometry computations for intersections, curves, and areas. Incorporate static GPS, RTK, and optical data into projects while conducting quality control checks on deliverable products. Research vertical control, certified corner records, and geodetic points to ensure compatibility with adjacent properties. Establish control for alignment and benchmarks, making required line and elevation ties to existing centerlines and U.S.G.S. benchmarks. Generate material quantities and prepare pre-calculations for field crews. Requires proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and Trimble software with a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma
- Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to our company insurance provider
- Ability to work in a safe manner and obey safety regulations at all times
- Minimum of 3-5 years of practical experience in surveying and mapping which includes the use of AutoCAD or similar computer-aided drafting software
- Ability to travel as needed
- Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of a two (2) year program in computer-aided drafting and design techniques from an accredited college or technical school
- Proficient with latest version of AutoCAD and other surveying software
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Earth, Trimble business center, GIS and GPS
- Extensive knowledge of survey and mapping principles, practices, standards, procedures and project management
- Experience with Trimble data collection, GPS receivers and robotic total stations
- Knowledge of and ability to perform complex mathematical computations
- Considerable knowledge of county, state and local survey laws, ordinances and regulations
- Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of photogrammetric mapping, LiDAR and other remote sensing
- Considerable knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and ability to read and interpret engineering plans
- Skill in identifying discrepancies between drawings and specifications
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to solve advanced mathematical problems
- Ability to read and interpret detailed surveying drawings, legal descriptions, deeds, construction plans and abstracts
