Job Summary
Conduct field surveys for pipelines, facilities, and properties, collaborating with senior staff on topographic and construction projects. Perform precision staking for right-of-way and pipeline tasks using 3D laser scanning and modern survey equipment. Apply geometry and trigonometry to make precise measurements, then interpret field results and process project data. Support senior personnel through all phases of surveying work within the Metropolitan Water District's service area. This intermediate-level position reports to the Weymouth Water Treatment Plant in La Verne, CA.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency (HSEC)
- four years of progressively increasing responsibility work experience in field and/or office survey work
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university
- two years of relevant experience
- two years in an MWD Survey and Mapping Technician I classification
- general experience supporting field surveying or mapping work
- using survey equipment or software
- performing survey-related calculations
- Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent
- work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States
