Job Summary
Surveillance Associate responsible for level one review of alerts from trade/order and surveillance systems, escalation handling, SME knowledge of multiple asset classes, alert governance, post-trade monitoring, information requests to exchanges/regulators, and collaboration with front-office and Compliance stakeholders. The role emphasizes independent information gathering, incident investigations, QA of alerts, documentation, and contributing to ongoing improvements in alert tuning and regulatory understanding. The position is based in the Belfast office with potential alignment to AI/data science opportunities in future, and requires strong communication, governance, and willingness to support training of new joiners.
Required Qualifications
- Previous practical experience in a monitoring/surveillance function within a financial services firm
- SME level knowledge of financial products within Commodities/Interest Rates/Fixed Income/Equities asset classes
- Understanding of market abuse and the risks associated with it
- Knowledge of relevant Exchange rules
- Experience of conducting market abuse investigations
- Experience of training/mentoring junior staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Flexibility to take on other team roles
- Sets own goals and targets to improve performance
