Job Summary
Check supplies and equipment, set up sterile tables, and hand instruments to the surgeon during procedures across cardiovascular, neurosurgery, general surgery, robotics, orthopedics, and other service lines. Anticipate patient needs, maintain strict sterile technique, perform appropriate counts with the RN Circulator, and assist with wound closure and patient positioning. Provide timely reports to oncoming personnel, re-stock room supplies, and participate in clinical education activities. This role requires an Associate's Degree from a Surgical Technologist Program or six months of recent OR experience.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program
- 6 months surgical tech experience in the operating room
- Certified Surgical Technologist - AST
- Certified Surgical Technologist - NBSTSA
- Required proficiency in fostering positive working relationships with all health care customers
- Required proficiency in demonstrating awareness of self-responsibility for own practice
- Required proficiency in demonstrating cost effectiveness in use of supplies and equipment
- Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist - AST Preferred
- Certified Surgical Technologist - NBSTSA Preferred
