Job Summary
Prepare operating rooms, scrub, and assist orthopedic surgeons in Laramie, Wyoming across pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric cases. Maintain sterile instrument tables, perform accurate operating room counts, and handle surgical specimens while adhering to aseptic technique. Manage pre- and post-operative room preparation, instrument care, and sterilization processes including steam sterilizer operation and documentation. Transfer patients safely and respond flexibly to changing workloads or stressful situations. Work independently, mentor new employees, and maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards. Schedule includes potential after-hours, weekends, holidays, and travel to state offices or athletic events.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Certification of Completion - Graduate of Surgical Technology Program, or On the Job Training
- Certificate - Current BLS (Must be through the American Heart Association)
- Completion - Orientation Packet and Competency Skills Checklist Within 90 Days of Employment
- Must be able to visually evaluate the patient's status
- Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with physicians, co-workers, and patients, as well as to receive instruction from physicians and/or supervisor
- Must be able to verbally communicate with physicians, co-workers, and patients, and to give instructions to patients and/or employees under supervision
- Must be able to maneuver and handle surgical equipment and perform duties requiring fine motor skills
- Must be able to stand in place for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds
- Must be able to maneuver and position equipment and patients
- Must be able to work after hours, on weekends, or holidays
- Must be able to provide services outside the clinical setting (i.e. at University or High School athletic events), or travel to offices throughout the state
