Job Summary
Maintain sterility during surgical procedures while collaborating with RNs and multidisciplinary departments to coordinate efficient, high-quality patient care. Follow federal requirements, AORN standards, The Joint Commission standards, and hospital policies during all tasks. Participate in unit and hospital-wide performance improvement activities and provide education to staff, students, and new orientees. Pursue lifelong education to stay current on professional changes and surgical techniques. Maintain yearly competencies, manage time and call sheet documentation, and communicate equipment or supply issues with the charge nurse, manager, and inventory coordinator. Actively participate in the Unit Base Council and represent the profession beyond the hospital walls.
Required Qualifications
- Maintain sterility during surgical procedures.
- Communicate and collaborate with RN and other multidisciplinary departments to coordinate the appropriate care for the surgical patients in the most efficient and highest quality manner.
- Follow all relevant federal requirements, AORN standards, The Joint Commission standards, and hospital policies and procedures, when caring for the patient and performing other tasks.
- Maintain yearly hospital wide and unit specific competencies.
- Maintain financial responsibility in helping to stay within the unit's budget.
- Communicate any issues with equipment and supplies with charge nurse, manager and inventory coordinator.
