Job Summary
Prepare the Operating Room for surgical procedures by organizing equipment, setting up for emergency cases, and verifying implants. Assist the surgeon as a scrub person, maintaining a sterile field and accounting for all instruments, needles, and sponges. Support the circulating nurse and transport patients to the O.R. when necessary. Operate sterilization equipment including steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, and utilize PDAs for instrument tracking. Achieve and maintain working knowledge of OR machinery and assist in on-the-job training for new staff.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Certificate Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program
- Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Upon Hire
- 1-3 years Previous experience as a Surgical Technician
- Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds
