Job Summary
Under supervision, assists in operations. May help set up the operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeons' assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. May provide day-to-day guidance/direction to more junior staff. Participates in time-out procedures; sets up equipment independently; monitors operating room conditions; prepares patients for surgery and positions them with sterile drapes; maintains knowledge of SPD sterile processing; actively participates as a member of the Patient Care Team.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) preferred
- 3-5 years experience in operating/procedure room
- Experience scrubbing in multiple specialties; leading teams preferred
- BLS required or equivalent
- Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room
- Ability to multitask in fast-paced clinical environment
