Job Summary
Prepare the operating room with necessary supplies and equipment, manage patient transfer and positioning, and maintain asepsis and the sterile field throughout the procedure. Handle surgical instruments and supplies while anticipating the surgeon's needs to ensure quality patient care. Monitor patient well-being, including fluid balance and skin integrity, and perform correct sterilization and decontamination procedures to reduce infection potential. Investigate unfamiliar procedures, techniques, and medications, and manage room supplies to promote cost-effectiveness. Handle unanticipated events and crisis situations professionally, ensuring minimal time loss between cases.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program
- Graduate of a Military Surgical Technology Training Program
- Associate in a Healthcare related field
- Surgical Technician Certificate from an accredited program
- 2+ years cardiovascular experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) Certification
- Ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department
- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force seldomly
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree of Applied Science in Surgical Technology
- 1+ years of Surgical Technologist Experience
- 1+ years of Healthcare Experience
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from the Nation Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
