Job Summary
Facilitate operative procedures by preparing sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment while maintaining the sterile field and anticipating surgical team needs. Ensure patient care by applying basic infection control and aseptic techniques, utilizing knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and instrumentation equipment to react effectively to unique patient populations. Maintain certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or NCCT, along with Basic Life Support certification. Work full-time days at OakBend Medical Center, an independent hospital providing exceptional care since 1950.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited educational program for Surgical Technologist
- Must be certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- NCCT certification is acceptable
- Meet the grandfather clause
- Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Basic infection control/aseptic technique
- Knowledge of instrumentation equipment used in surgical procedures
- Ability to use equipment reference manuals and resources for consultation
- Ability to understand and react effectively to unique needs
- Ability to care for all patient populations
