Job Summary
Prepare the surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies, ensuring all items are available and functional. Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients, then pass instruments to the physician while continuously accounting for the number and location of instruments and supplies. Receive and process specimens for laboratory delivery when required. This Certified Surgical Tech facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures at Northwestern Medicine, adhering to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program. The role requires a CST certification and adherence to physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire
- CPR – Basic Life Support
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to push/pull force up to 50 pounds
- Must complete background check authorization and disclosure form
