Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist role involves preparing the OR for surgical cases by obtaining and organizing supplies, equipment, and instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and delivering instruments to the surgeon. Acts as 2nd assistant to the surgeon, assists with draping and operative site exposure, and handles decontamination and room turnover. Responsibilities also include assisting with positioning, casting/splinting, handling specimens, and supporting anesthesia and circulating staff within the sterile field. Requires competency in multiple service lines, ongoing unit operations, and mentoring of new associates; works night shift in the Labor and Delivery unit. Sign-on bonus of $7,500 with a one-year work commitment is offered. Minimum qualifications include completion of OhioHealth OR ST Fellowship or graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program (or equivalent military training) with BLS certification; 10+ years of surgical technician experience preferred. CANNOT perform invasive procedures, IV setup, or perioperative medication administration without RN supervision; annual competency requirements apply for certain advanced tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • Graduated from an accredited (CAAHEP) surgical technologist school preferred or equivalent military training or 10+ years’ experience as a Surgery Technician
