Job Summary
Surgical technologists assist with preparing the surgical environment, ensuring aseptic technique, and supporting the surgeon during invasive and non-invasive procedures. They maintain a sterile field, account for items used, perform instrument checks, and may assist with patient preparation. Requires graduation from an approved surgical technology program; LPN licensure is relevant for some roles; BLS within 60 days; ongoing competency training. Roles include varied shifts under physician supervision in a hospital setting with emphasis on patient safety and quality care.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved school of surgical technology
- LPN license (if applicable) or multi-state licensure privileges
- National certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within first 60 days of employment
- Completes required CEUs and competency training
